Dengan dibantu oleh Kapten Wardana (Augie Fantinus), mereka terbang ke Pulau Alaskeramat. Tiba disana, mereka menemukan sebuah Boneka Kayu Jailangkung. Rama meyakini penyebab Ferdi tak sadarkan diri itu gara-gara beliau memainkan Boneka Jailangkung untuk berkomunikasi dengan almarhum isterinya, Sarah (Wulan Guritno) yang meninggal usai melahirkan Tasya.

Usai pulang dari Pulau Alaskeramat, terror Boneka Jailangkung terus berlanjut dan kini menimpa Angel, Bella hingga Tasya. Ketiganya terus dihantui oleh arwah-arwah jahat yang ikut terpanggil usai ayah mereka bermain Boneka Jailangkung. Sosok misterius itu bernama Matianak yang ikut terpanggil ketika Ferdi melakukan ritual bermain Boneka Jailangkung. Rama kemudian memutuskan untuk meminta saran dari Eyang (Bhutet Kartaredjasa) bagaimana untuk menghentikan terror Boneka Jailangkung itu. Eyang kemudian memberikan mantra "Datang Gendong.. Pulang Bopong" yang artinya bahwa roh yang telah dipanggil pasti akan datang dan ketika akan memulangkannya kembali harus dengan cara membopongnya.

Bisakah Rama menghentikan terror Boneka Jailangkung dari Alaskeramat yang menimpa keluarga Ferdi?

Kesuksesan Film JELANGKUNG (2001) kala itu sepertinya membuat Rumah Produksi Screenplay Films dan Legacy Pictures tertarik untuk membuat sebuah remake dari Film horror fenomenal itu. Dengan menggelontorkan dana yang konon mencapai 10 Miliar Rupiah, menggaet kembali nama Rizal Mantovani dan Jose Poernomo sebagai sutradara, lalu dibintangi oleh jajaran pemain yang tengah melambung seperti Jefri Nichol dan Amanda Rawles, serta menjanjikan visual horror yang mengesankan dan yang terakhir, duet Rumah Produksi ini sangat optimis merilis Film JAILANGKUNG (2017) ini pada moment Lebaran 2017. Tak heran membuat gue penasaran akan project optimis dari Screenplay Films dan Legacy Pictures ini.

Film JAILANGKUNG (2017) versi terkini harus diakui jauh lebih masif dalam budget produksi. Hal ini sangat terlihat jelas dari atmosfir horror yang gak murahan, setting tempat yang melibatkan banyak lokasi diberbagai daerah di Indonesia, pengambilan gambar serta gerak kamera yang sangat memukau disepanjang film. Rizal Mantovani dan Jose Poernomo melakukan tugasnya dengan amat baik pada bagian-bagian tersebut. Hal tersebut menjadi poin tertinggi untuk film ini.

Namun dibalik itu semua, masih ada beberapa poin yang gue rasa ada kekurangannya. Film JAILANGKUNG (2017) ini sangat mengeksplor chemistry Jefri Nichol dan Amanda Rawles. Keduanya benar-benar dijadikan pusat cerita disepanjang film. Hal tersebut malah menurut gue jadi menutup sisi cerita mistis tentang asal usul Boneka Jailangkung dan penjelasan tentang Mantra "Datang Gendong.. Pulang Bopong.." itu. Karakter lainnya juga (yang jauh lebih meyakinkan seperti karakter Angel yang diperankan Hannah Al-Rashid) jadi ikut tenggelam juga gara-gara over-exposed pada karakter Rama dan Bella. Padahal sepengelihatan gue disepanjang film, chemistry serta akting dari Jefri Nichol dan Amanda Rawles dalam film ini belum sepenuhnya horror dan nanggung. Penggunaan Jefri Nichol dan Amanda Rawles sangat terlihat sebagai penggaet untuk penonton belia usai kemarin keduanya sukses merebut ratusan ribu penonton lewat Film DEAR NATHAN (2017). Part horror Angel yang diperankan oleh Hannah Al-Rashid serta adegan tangga darurat menjadi salah satu part terbaik disini. Rizal Mantovani dan Jose Poernomo mengambil shoot kamera nya begitu apik dan mengesankan. Penggunaan fitur gadget dalam film ini pun cukup berhasil dan efektif masuk ke cerita mewakili bahwa Film JAILANGKUNG (2017) ini memang terjadi pada kehidupan modern.

Gue juga cukup menyayangkan durasi Film JAILANGKUNG (2017) ini cukup singkat sama seperti Film DANUR (2017). Padahal jika dilihat dari plot cerita serta budget produksi yang dikeluarkan, tak ada salahnya jika Film JAILANGKUNG (2017) mempunyai durasi lebih lama pasti semua plot dan subplot diterangkan dengan jelas. Apalagi untuk asal usul Boneka Jailangkung dan Alaskeramat disini kurang dieksplor dengan baik.

Overall, Film JAILANGKUNG (2017) tampil cukup meyakinkan diawal film, meskipun ada sedikit kekurangan dibeberapa bagian. Semoga kedepannya Rizal Mantovani dan Jose Poernomo bisa konsisten dan membuat sebuah Cinematic Universe tentang film-film horror yang mereka akan produksi kedepannya.
